We kick off 2018 Writers & Readers on International Women’s Day with a celebration of women, their words and their power to change – marking 125 years of New Zealand suffrage.
Performer, broadcaster and author Michèle A'Court will introduce an array of witty, talented and clever women as they deliver a powerhouse mash-up of poetry, manifesto, rave, entreaty, revelation and confession – all illustrated live on stage by the playful League of Live Illustrators.
Enjoy the good company of: New Zealand Poet Laureate Selina Tusitala Marsh (pictured), broadcaster Kim Hill, novelist Charlotte Wood, fantasy champion Charlie Jane Anders, poet and memoirist Patricia Lockwood, poet and games maker Harry Giles, free-range celebrity cook Annabel Langbein, poets Anahera Gildea and Maraea Rakuraku, poets Jenny Bornholdt, Louise Wallace and Tayi Tibble, activist and author Marianne Elliott, and playwright, novelist and memoirist Renée.
You can continue the celebration at the Opening Night After-Party in the pop-up Festival Club from 9:30pm. All welcome.
