Photobook NZ is Wellington’s biennial festival celebrating beautifully designed photobooks created by photographers and small publishers for you, book lovers.

During this year’s Writers & Readers, you can enjoy a full range of activities nearby, including the launch and awards, photobook fair, lectures, talks and panel discussions. Events are held at Te Papa and the College of Creative Arts at Massey University.

Photobook Lecture: Bryan Schutmaat

Saturday 10 Mar, 12–1pm (Soundings Theatre, Te Papa)

Texas-based photographer Bryan Schutmaat is an Aperture Portfolio Prize winner. He will talk about his photography and his photobook Grays the Mountain Sends, which took top prize in the photobook category of the 2013 New York Photo Awards.

Massey Univbersity 2018 Peter Turner Memorial Lecture: Jem Southam

Saturday 10 Mar, 6.30–7.30pm (Soundings Theatre, Te Papa)

The 2018 Peter Turner Memorial Lecture will be delivered by leading UK photographer Jem Southam, who is renowned for his photographic narratives of landscapes transformed by time and human presence.
